ASPEN, COLORADO Cemplex is the design of two houses on a single lot for two local brothers and their families. The site plan for the homes takes advantage of views from both ends of the site while maximizing the south facing yard and emphasizing privacy and green space between houses. Creating very family friendly homes with plenty of space for playing and living was a priority for the clients. The front house is a series of floating planes, which create outdoor rooms to extend living areas while providing shade and covering. The back house is designed as a shifted box, aligned to take advantage of mountain views and to nestle an exterior courtyard. An outdoor deck faces the sunset and the adjacent butte. Exterior materials contrast sleek cement board with natural reclaimed wood. The windows and doors are custom metal clad with wood interiors. The interior design and finishes will be modern and sophisticated.
