Sitting on the edge of a cliff at the entrance to Aspen, the Gateway Project consists of a contemporary and sophisticated Duplex and modest single family house behind. The project is located at a unique juxtaposition of mountain scenery and urban infrastructure. The site plan and floor plans are carefully positioned to take advantage of stunning views of Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk Ski Area, and the Castle Creek Valley below while at the same time creating a dialog between the bridge entrance to Aspen and the homes. Instead of hiding from the bridge like many buildings, the design is meant to show itself and be proud. Upon entering the home, you experience infinity views over the cliff and further into the project high expansive views of the bridge and mountains beyond through floor to ceiling glass windows and double height spaces. Outdoor decks on every level face the sunset and views while also reflecting the sounds from the creek below. The exterior is a pure dark box wrapped on the inside with warm wood, much like a jewel box. The interior design and finishes are modern and sophisticated.
